Free Observing Event by Leicester Astronomical Society

October 4, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

An excerpt from the National Space Centre website:

World Space Week takes place from 4-10 October 2014, the week celebrates the advances in space science around the world and the ways it has improved our lives.

The start and end dates of World Space Week are also important: October the 4th marks the anniversary of the launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1 in 1957, while October the 10th marks the signing of the Outer Space Treaty in 1967.

The theme for the week this year is “Space: Guiding Your Way” and it will be a celebration of everything about satellite navigation.

Throughout the day we will be joined by guests, experts and UK space companies so you can find out more about how satellites guide your way.
